Rolling Stone Magazine
"Rolling Stone" magazine was launched in 1967 in San Francisco by editor and publisher Jann Wenner and music critic Ralph Gleason. For the last several decades the bi-weekly publication has greatly impacted pop culture, featuring controversial covers and in-depth articles about music, politics, and cultural issues.
John Lennon appeared on the very first cover, and subsequent early cover photos include The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Eric Clapton. Some of the magazine's covers have become widely collectible and are available in framed collector's editions. On May 7, 2006, Rolling Stone published its 1000th issue.
New Year
The saying goes, "Out with the old; in with the new." Stepping into a new year has always been symbolic of putting the regretful past behind and embracing fresh hope.
New Year's Eve is always a bittersweet celebration, as the human heart reluctantly releases yesterday's memories and looks toward tomorrow's dreams.
The end of the year is also a time of resolutions, year in reviews, and persons of the year. TIME magazine covers have displayed a Man or Person of the Year for more than half a century. Although the selection is at times dubious, the honor is not.
